Hi all! It's Acon your friendly neighborhood cat :D

I've made a list of three free hardware opportunities for you to start learning how to build cool things!

SOLDER

Are you new to hardware and don't know where to start? Solder is here for you!

Solder is Hack Club's beginner hardware program, where you design a simple PCB using the parts listed, and we'll send you a kit so you can solder what you designed!

Follow the tutorial to learn about basic electronics, then design your first PCB!

Here's a gif of the kit you'll get!

Start Solder now!

HACKPAD (=⭐ᆽ⭐=)

Hackpad is program where you design a macropad and we'll ship you the parts to assemble it IRL!

You can make a macropad do anything - be a copy/paste shortcut, open up OBS settings, or even something to play OSU with! It can be in any shape - a cat macropad, anyone?

By the way! @Meghana is running a Hackpad workshop Tuesday, June 24, 3:00-5:00 PM EDT - you'll learn how to make a PCB and case in just two hours, from scratch! No prior experience needed - just come with KiCad and Fusion downloaded. We'll be sending the Zoom link day-of!

if you can't make: follow the Hackpad guide to learn:
  • How to make a PCB (printed circuit board)
  • How to 3d model a case in fusion
  • How to code firmware
Then, design your own!

Plus, you'll earn 4 points upon completion - that's halfway to Undercity, Hack Club's hardware hackathon at GitHub HQ, July 11-14!

Go to the Workshop

HIGHWAY

If you make ~1-2 hardware projects before July 11th, you'll also get invited to a hardware hackathon called Undercity @ GitHub HQ (San Francisco!) at July 11-14.

Start now! It's Open to all levels! + your project will count towards the Athena Award!

Highway is Hack Club's flagship hardware program! - Got ideas of your own and want to make other hardware projects like a keyboard, game console, cosplay, PCB jewelry (like this super cool necklace!), and more? Go check out Highway - We'll fund up to 350 USD for any hardware project you make, until July 31.

Check out Highway + Undercity!

This opportunity is brought to you by Hack Club's Athena Award. Hack Club is a free community for high school coders. Join our community to improve your technical skills by building projects with other teenagers, competing in online competitions and attend epic hackathons.
